“Fashion is not something that exists in dresses only. Fashion is in the sky, in the street, fashion has to do with ideas, the way we live, what is happening.”
– Coco Chanel
As I write this article there is a wintery breeze outside my window, overlooking the Spanish Arch in Galway. Winters in Ireland can be rough, and we experienced powerful storms — such as Storm Éowyn in 2025, which barrelled across the island last January and quickly earned its place as one of the most powerful storms Ireland has seen in recent years.
This cold breeze arriving from the Atlantic Ocean has left me longing for warmer days, and as I wait for the warmer days, one of the fashion designers caught my attention with their Spring/Summer Ready-to-Wear 2026 fashion show. Let’s talk about Thom Browne and his unique collection inspired by Space Aliens. That’s right, this is a space-inspired fashion show!

The Spring/Summer ready-to-wear collection 2026 by Thom Browne brings a new scent to the industry, with a playful space theme surrounding the viewers. The models waled the runway wearing green bug-eyed alien masks we are all most likely familiar with (remember all those scary space alien movies that kept us at night as kids? They portrayed aliens as green, with eyed and walking on 2 feet).
We Come in Peace
The central concept of the collection was a playful and surreal interplanetary theme — summed up in the show’s statement: We come in peace.
Models were styled as both humans and aliens, combining the designer’s signature tailoring with motifs and silhouettes inspired by extra-terrestrial beings.

As the models presented the new collection and provided a space vibe, there was a visible emphasis on:
- Pleated fabrics — pleated skirts, pleated blazers and two-piece outfits. If you have pleats, do wear them this summer as Thom Browne is all in for pleats this season.
- Platform shoes, illusion-style boots and hybrid shoes that blend unexpected forms.
- Tailored trousers — striped or single-colour, giving an elegant yet eclectic feel.
- Multiple layers — shirt, vest, blazer, jacket — wear them all!

The collection is elegant with an emphasis on looser look and bolder colours. Some looks included multiple limbs, sleeves, or pant legs, with surreal proportions that pushed the boundary between human and otherworldly form. The models held futuristic digital paddles/cards displaying the look number, further complementing the extra-terrestrial theme.
What do you think of this collection? Would you embrace an extra-terrestrial-inspired look?
