Alien-Inspired Fashion
“Fashion is not something that exists in dresses only. Fashion is in the sky, in the street, fashion has to do with ideas, the way we live, what is happening.”
– Coco Chanel
We are well into the new year, leaving the rainy January well behind us. The cold breeze from the Atlantic Ocean has left me in much need of warmer days. I crave the blue sky in Galway, so I can locate where the sun is in the sky. It’s currently covered by heavy clouds, but I know it’s there.
As we are shaking off the last winds of winter, so too, are the fashion designers. With Spring/Summer collections already displayed and showcased on the runway, there is one collection in specific that I want to draw attention. Let’s talk about the collection by Thom Browne.

The Spring/Summer ready-to-wear collection 2026 brings you nostalgia. All those E.T. movies and other alien shows which I watched as a kid came back to me as the models presented the beautiful outfits. Sure, as a kid I thought endlessly how aliens looked like. And now these giant bug-eyed Aliens were walking down the runway, like it’s nobody’s business!
We Come in Peace
The central concept of the collection was a playful and surreal interplanetary theme — summed up in the show’s statement “We come in peace.” Models were styled like both humans and aliens, combining the designer’s signature tailoring with motifs and silhouettes inspired by extra-terrestrial beings.

Let’s talk clothes
There is a visible emphasis on
- Pleated fabric – pleated skirts, blazers, two-piece uniform – If you have pleats, wear them for summer.
- Platform shoes, illusion-style boots and hybrid shoes that blended unexpected forms.
- Tailored Trousers – stripes or one-colour giving an elegant, but eclectic feel.
- Multiple layer – shirt, vest, blazer, jacket – wear them all!

Some looks included multiple limbs, multiple sleeves or pant legs, and surreal proportions that pushed the boundary between human and otherworldly shape. The models held futuristic digital paddles/cards to show the look number and complement the extra-terrestrial theme.
What do you think of this collection? Would you get extra-terrestrial inspired?
